TOP TIPS AND IDEAS

Get knotted...

If like me (underwaterimage) you are a relative newbie to fishing and havnt a clue what a blood knot or grinner knot is. Then check out this website. It actually animates tying the essential fishing knots using photographs rather than iffy sketches. There are also many other usefull categories such as rescue loops which may be usefull. Ive used these for real when commercial diving so look at the Details here

A great idea...

During cold spells I use a couple of sweet tins "Roses or Quality Street" filled with smokeless coal and they are great for kicking out heat and cooking on too!. When I arrive my first job is to get the tins alight with a few fire lighters and a mitful of SMOKELESS COAL, for the first 20 mins they smoke a bit and when it is going good I fill the tins and they will glow and kick out heat for a good few hours.

Also the pebbles around the tin make good hand warmers and they last a while too " make sure you have a healthy pair of gloves though!", once these tins are going they can stay alight in a downpour. Drill 8-10mm holes at random in the lid sides and on the bottom of the tin and buy a bag of smokeless coal for about 4 quid and it will do a fair few fishing trips. A must for winter fishing I think and if you decide to cook a tin of beans on it let me tell you that they will be the best you will ever eat " remove lid and place on top otherwise BANG" and talking of bang a small fry pan and some bangers go well too. If you decide to use the tins I must stress day or night please cool off the spot where the tin or tins have been situated before you leave the beach as the pebbles below do warm up a bit and stay warm for a while.

Cheers and give it a go...Tony
